A newer name has appeared on Michigan State basketball’s radar for the 2020 recruiting class as Mady Sissoko is trending toward the Spartans.

Michigan State’s 2020 class hasn’t grown since April when it added its first member in four-star point guard Jalen Terry, but that could be changing soon.

Much of the focus from fans in recent months has been football recruiting, but that will start to shift as the basketball season approaches. There are some top names still on the board for Tom Izzo, including Isaiah Jackson, Carlos Johnson, Bryce Thompson and AJ Hoggard, but another big-time prospect has emerged in recent weeks.

Mady Sissoko has been a relatively new name on the radar for fans as the four-star center has been trending toward the Spartans recently.

Is this a sign that Jackson could be opening up his recruitment more as to not seem like a lock to Michigan State? Possibly, but this is a positive development either way considering Sissoko, from Mount Pleasant, Utah, is a top-40 recruit and rated a four-star by 247Sports. He’s officially listed as the No. 34 recruit in the class as well as the sixth-best center.

And he’s trending toward the Spartans after three recent Crystal Balls (if you put any stock in those) have gone in favor of Michigan State. Brian Snow, a recruiting expert, was the first to make the pick for MSU and two others have followed suit.

Sissoko is a 6-9, 230-pound center who would be a great addition to the 2020 class to complement Terry and give him a post presence. Plus, Xavier Tillman’s time in East Lansing may be running out as his NBA draft stick rises.
