1. Mark Dantonio wins Big Ten Coach of the Year

Out of all the honors that seem special to Michigan State this season, one that could take the cake would be Mark Dantonio being named Big Ten Coach of the Year. Because if that were to happen, it would mean a major bounce-back season for the green and white.

And that’s what it’ll be.

Dantonio was criticized for his coaching staff shuffling but if it pays off with the aforementioned top-50 offense to go along with a sill-elite defense, we could be talking about a special year. He will be looked at as a genius for making necessary moves while keeping his most trusted guys on staff.

On top of that, if Michigan State can end the Northwestern drought, beat either Michigan or Ohio State on the road, develop a 1,000-yard rusher, get Brian Lewerke back to his old self and make a New Year’s Six bowl, the coach will have nothing more to prove short of a national title. That would mean a statue in his honor would be built outside of Spartan Stadium.

Dantonio will prove everyone wrong with a special season to follow up that disappointing 7-6 campaign and he’ll win 10-plus games and put the nation on notice.

No, Michigan State isn’t going anywhere and yes, he is still an elite coach in the Big Ten.
