Michigan State basketball’s 2020 recruiting class is led by four-star Jalen Terry who got a slight bump in the rankings on Wednesday.

Tom Izzo has gotten a start on his 2020 recruiting class by landing Jalen Terry, but there’s plenty of speculation about who will round it out.

Michigan State landed Terry back in April, capping off an incredible year for the basketball program which saw Big Ten regular season and tourney titles as well as a Final Four berth. The program is trending in the right direction and it’s because Izzo continues to recruit at a high level.

The Spartans need to continue this pace, and they got some help on Wednesday as 247Sports updated its recruiting rankings, giving Terry a two-spot bump up to No. 54 in the nation. He’s also listed as the top recruit from Michigan and the nation’s seventh-best point guard.

Like I said, the future is bright for the Spartans, especially at point guard.

Even after Cassius Winston graduates, Michigan State will have Foster Loyer and Terry running the point. The former may need a little work, but Terry is an explosive athlete who could take over the starting job from day one. Heck, Rocket Watts could even get some time at point.

And the 2020 class isn’t even close to being done.

In fact, the Spartans are still in the race for five-star Bryce Thompson (No. 18 in 2020), five-star Isaiah Jackson (No. 21), four-star Jaemyn Brakefield (No. 33), four-star AJ Hoggard (No. 67) and three-star Carlos Johnson (No. 138).

Michigan State could close with one of the most dynamic classes in the nation with plenty of athleticism and depth. It all starts with Terry at the point, though.
