Michigan State basketball found itself a rising star in four-star point guard Jalen Terry who was recently named the EYBL’s most improved player.

When Jalen Terry picked Michigan State back in April, it forced fans to look ahead to what the roster might look like in 2020 and beyond with the athletic point guard in place.

Cassius Winston would be gone, leaving the position up for grabs with Terry and maybe Foster Loyer or Rocket Watts — depending on how much Tom Izzo wants the latter playing point. Terry was a bit undersized, but he made up for that with his incredible athleticism.

Hungry to prove himself even more, he earned some impressive accolades after Nike EYBL play.

Yes, that’s Terry being named the EYBL’s Most Improved Player after shattering his 2018 numbers during the spring. According to the tweet, he tripled his scoring, assists and steals which led to 19.1 points, 5.6 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game during the spring session.

The soon-to-be senior is trending up in a big way despite being just 5-10 and 155 pounds. It wouldn’t be all that surprising to see him get a rankings bump on 247Sports from his spot at No. 58 overall in the 2020 class and as the No. 7 point guard. He’s also the No. 1 prospect from the state of Michigan.

After Winston, it’ll be a breath of fresh air to have a quick, agile, athletic point guard who can create his own shots and throw down over taller defenders. Life after Cassius might not be a nightmare after all.

Izzo’s 2020-21 team might be one of his most athletic ever, especially if Terry continues to grow as a player.
