Michigan State Football: 5 things we want to see from new offense in 2019
1. Creativity
Sometimes it’s difficult to be creative as an offensive coordinator, but when you have a dual-threat quarterback, a wealth of depth in the backfield and talented receivers, it should be a tad easier.
Brad Salem is taking over an offense with a ton of talent and maybe not as much direction following the Dave Warner era. He ran a predictable, uncreative offense which led to one of the worst statistical seasons on that side of the ball in school history.
In fact, the Spartans finished 126th in scoring and 117th in total offense last year and a lot of that had to do with running an offense that was easy for defenses to plan for.
Mark Dantonio made a change to a former quarterbacks coach who was thought to have a more creative mind and vast understanding of an offense, but time will tell.
If there’s one thing fans need to see from Michigan State’s offense in 2019, it has to be creativity.
