Michigan State football continues to load up on the defensive side of the ball in the 2020 class, this time with three-star linebacker Devin Hightower.

If there’s one thing Mark Dantonio and the Michigan State football staff knows, it’s defense. On Sunday, the staff landed three impressive recruits from the state of Ohio — though their rankings might indicate a few reaches.

First, it was Angelo Grose who committed and he actually stands out as one of the top cornerbacks in the Midwest — all you need to do is watch his film. Next, it was three-star defensive end Chris Mayfield who plays a smart style of football. He has the pieces to be a star on that line, coached and developed by Ron Burton.

Later on Sunday night, the Spartans picked up their third commitment of the day in three-star linebacker Devin Hightower from Akron, Ohio.

This was arguably the Spartans’ biggest get of the weekend as he’s ranked the No. 707 player in the class as well as 47th-best outside linebacker, per 247Sports.

Moreover, he recently released a top five schools list which included Pitt, Cincinnati, Michigan and Iowa along with the Spartans. That’s not too shabby of a list for a three-star kid from the state of Ohio and it seems like he couldn’t go wrong with any of those options.

An official visit to East Lansing over the weekend sealed the deal for the 6-2, 205-pound linebacker.

Honestly, his highlights would get any football junkie fired up. This kid plays an aggressive and emotional style of football that fans just love. He has an incredible burst when he gets past the line of scrimmage and looks like a heat-seeking missile when he targets the ball-carrier. This kid has future All-Big Ten performer written all over him.
