4. The staff has made him the No. 1 priority

Some recruits downplay this, but when a coaching staff makes you a priority, it means something extra. It means that a staff is willing to take a major risk on you in order to make sure you know you’re their No. 1 target.

Chubba Purdy took a visit to East Lansing a couple of weeks ago, the coaching staff offered before that and it seems like he was made the priority quarterback target shortly thereafter, or even before the visit.

Michigan State was in good standing with four-star quarterback Michael Alaimo even before a June 6 visit to East Lansing but he recently visited Purdue and committed shortly after. Was he told by Michigan State that he would have to wait until Purdy made his decision? That’s entirely possible and no kid wants to be the backup plan which is why he picked the Boilermakers so abruptly.

The staff seems to have taken a major risk with this kid and it’s a group of coaches that know the quarterback position well and have developed multiple NFL passers.

That’s another thing that has to be attractive for Purdy. If this staff can get some underrated guys like Connor Cook and Kirk Cousins to the NFL, imagine what they could do with a higher-rated kid like Purdy.
