This spot was once reserved for Michael Alaimo, but when he committed to Purdue on Wednesday afternoon, some changes had to be made.

Three-star defensive tackle Justin Wodtly moved from No. 3 on the list up to No. 2 and his recent visit to East Lansing may have been a game-changer for him, but Cincinnati is putting up quite the fight. He could choose to stay home and play for the Bearcats who have become one of the best Group of Five teams in the country under Luke Fickell.

All signs are pointing to the Spartans leading here, though. He’s listed as the No. 721 overall player in the class and 61st-best defensive tackle. He reigns from Cleveland, Ohio, and just has that look of a typical Mark Dantonio-style recruit.

Wodtly stands 6-foot-3 and weighs in at 271 pounds and has the athleticism to play both sides of the ball — the first play of his highlight tape shows him making a one-handed catch for about a 60-yard gain. His strength on defense is impressive, too, as he can run through would-be blockers on his way to the ball-carrier.

This kid would fit right into the defensive scheme.
