Michigan State football landed its fifth pledge in the 2020 recruiting class as three-star defensive end Kyle King committed on Friday.

Just one week after taking an unofficial visit to Michigan State, three-star defensive end Kyle King pulled the trigger and committed to the Spartans.

The 2020 recruit visited Purdue just a day after taking a trip to East Lansing and Jeff Brohm and the Boilermakers even extended an offer to him, but the opportunity to play for the Spartans was too much to pass up as he committed via Twitter on Friday evening.

King is a name that may not be familiar to every Spartan fan and this commitment came out of left field, but the staff liked what they saw in him and he held 17 offers, per 247Sports. He may not have the most impressive offer sheet, but he has flown under the radar.

The high school senior plays fast, has good hands and is extremely disruptive up front. He can make his way into the backfield with ease and his highlights show him causing turnover after turnover. He’s a nightmare for opposing offensive linemen at the high school level, and his 6-4, 242-pound frame may not be done growing just yet.

King joins Dallas Fincher, Darius Snow, Ian Stewart and Tommy Guajardo in Michigan State’s 2020 recruiting class.

The New Palestine, Ind., native is ranked the No. 790 overall prospect and 40th-best strong-side defensive end in the class, according to 247Sports.

Many people will be skeptical of this commitment, but King’s highlights are impressive and he could be yet another diamond in the rough for Mark Dantonio and Co. — just look at how former walk-on Kenny Willekes turned out.
