4. This team has the right attitude

There’s just a different feel surrounding the basketball program these days. No longer are first-weekend exits accepted and that was obvious during the 2018-19 season when the Spartans made the Final Four despite not having Josh Langford and with Nick Ward at less than 100 percent.

This group of players has taken it upon themselves to shatter expectations and work hard to reach the top. There’s not a lazy player on the entire team or anyone who doesn’t take winning seriously and that goes for the starting lineup all the way down to the end of the bench.

Cassius Winston is a heck of a leader and he’ll be joined by Josh Langford and Xavier Tillman — and Kyle Ahrens — as potential captains in 2019-20 and they each bring a ton of experience to the table.

Experience is important, but so is leadership which usually instills the right attitude within the younger guys.

Michigan State has the right attitude heading into next season and it has upperclassmen to thank for that — and some mature first and second-year players.
