Although he’s relatively unknown to Michigan State football fans, three-star cornerback Angelo Grose could soon be a 2020 commit.

There’s a new name on the recruiting radar for Michigan State fans and it’s a surprising one as Angelo Grose had been committed to Cincinnati since May 23.

A little over two weeks isn’t exactly a long enough time to call him a “solid” verbal pledge to the Bearcats because Grose may have been waiting for a certain offer and Michigan State could have been just that.

In an interview with Bill Greene of 247Sports, Grose called Michigan State his “dream school” which makes it seem as if a commitment is on the horizon.

"“The offer from Michigan State was huge to me because that was always my dream school since I started following college football,.”"

That’s rather interesting for a kid from Ohio, but seeing the Spartans dip into the Buckeye State for talent on a regular basis probably shifted his focus to the green and white. A Michigan State offer was enough for him to de-commit from Cincinnati and immediately schedule an official visit to East Lansing.

With a visit coming in a little over a week, Mark Dantonio has to feel good about potentially landing Grose who could be another under-the-radar recruit who has been evaluated a ton by the staff and earned an offer — Josiah Scott was the same way as a lightly-recruited cornerback out of high school.

Grose doesn’t have great size at 5-foot-10 and 170 pounds, but he’s quick and athletic which makes up for his slight frame.

The three-star from Mansfield, Ohio, is ranked the No. 1,252 overall prospect and 103rd-best cornerback from his home state, according to 247Sports. His offers aren’t all that impressive, but the staff has done more with less before and Grose could soon be a Spartan — officially.
