Michigan State football offers another 2020 QB in 4-star Chubba Purdy
Mark Dantonio and Michigan State football have been dishing out a slew of quarterback offers for 2020 and the latest was four-star Chubba Purdy.
And the third quarterback to receive an offer from Mark Dantonio and Michigan State in the past week is — Chubba Purdy, younger brother of Iowa State’s Brock Purdy.
It seems like every time we turn around, Michigan State has offered a new 2020 quarterback and it makes one wonder if Michael Alaimo is still “the guy” for the Spartans. He received an offer at the end of April, but Michigan State hasn’t put all of its eggs in one basket just yet.
Purdy becomes the latest to receive an offer from the coaching staff and he’s a fairly intriguing option. He reigns from Gilbert, Ariz., and he would follow in the footsteps of Brian Lewerke, going from the desert to East Lansing as a dual-threat. Like Lewerke, he’s a highly-regarded prospect and has a similar frame, standing 6-foot-2 and 194 pounds.
What does he bring to the table as a gunslinger? Well, he’s just that and he’d fit right into Michigan State’s quarterback room. He has one of the strongest arms I’ve seen from a recruit in a while and he can make a 40-50 yard throw look routine. Just watch how he can hit receivers in stride 50 yards down the field without hesitation.
This kid has a cannon attached to his shoulder and he has incredible wheels.
While Alaimo may be a top option for Michigan State, Purdy may be my favorite quarterback in the class. He has an elite skill set and even though he’s ranked No. 256 in the class, per 247Sports, I think he could be much higher. He currently holds 16 offers, and we should expect that to grow exponentially. This kid is going to be difficult to land.
