Michigan State football made the cut for three-star Georgia-based wide receiver Ricky White. What could he bring to the table?

With the 2019 class just weeks away from getting to campus, the Michigan State coaching staff knows it’s time to start focusing on the 2020 crop of recruits.

One name that has come up recently with major interest is three-star wide receiver Ricky White from Marietta, Ga. He recently released his top six schools which included Michigan State and they may not be fighting any blue bloods for his commitment.

Along with the Spartans, White named Louisville, West Virginia, Pitt, Syracuse and Georgia Tech. That’s a relatively favorable list of schools if Michigan State wants to reel in a Georgia-native and it has been recruiting the Peach State hard lately.

Michigan State offered White back in January and he took an unofficial visit to East Lansing in early-April. He liked what he saw enough to include the Spartans on his list despite not having a major focus in the Midwest.

What does this kid bring to the table? He stands 6-1 and weighs in at 175 pounds so he’s not the biggest wide out, but he’s as sure-handed as they come. He finished his junior season with 55 catches for just over 1,000 yards and 13 touchdowns, really putting himself on the map. He makes the toughest catches look routine and his route-running is what caught my eye on his highlight reel.

White can stop on a dime and make defenders miss in open space and he reminds me a bit of Jalen Nailor, though not quite as fast.

The Georgia-native is ranked the No. 602 overall player in the class and 111th-best receiver, according to 247Sports.
