If you watched the spring game, you’d know just how fitting it is to see Anthony Williams Jr. on this list of true freshmen who could come in and compete right away.

The shifty running back did a little of everything during the spring game, making defenders miss in open space and catching some passes out of the backfield and making something out of nothing. He looked like the Spartans’ breakout performer in the backfield as an early enrollee and even though they have Connor Heyward, La’Darius Jefferson and Eli Collins, he could be in line to see some extended snaps.

Like Mosley, Williams Jr. can bring a different element to the offense and that’s athletic shiftiness with the ball in his hands.

Michigan State’s offense could use all the help in can get and Williams Jr. could be the dark-horse contender to take over in the backfield.

Will he start? Probably not any time during his freshman season, but with a strong campaign, he could set himself up for a big sophomore year.
