Could this be the year Michigan State finally gets back on track and beats Ohio State? The Buckeyes and Spartans usually have close games (outside of the 2017 season) and last year was no exception as some argued Michigan State had Ohio State on the ropes, but the offense turned it over in their own territory too many times, giving the Buckeyes a short field.

The offense should be much more competent this time around and it could be the Spartans’ best opportunity to end the losing streak (three games) against Ohio State yet.

The Buckeyes no longer have Urban Meyer roaming the sidelines, which could help matters, and Dwayne Haskins is off to the NFL, leaving the starting job to an unproven Justin Fields with no solidified backups in place. Let’s say he struggles against Michigan State’s defense, the Buckeyes will have nowhere to turn.

I expect Michigan State’s defense to have a solid game against Ohio State, but there will be no one on the offensive line who will be able to slow Chase Young. It’ll be a long day for Brian Lewerke as he’ll be running for his life and just trying to avoid another major injury to that shoulder.

On top of that, the run game will do next to nothing and Michigan State will be sent home with its first loss of the year.

Final Score: Michigan State 14, Ohio State 24 (5-1, 2-1)
