Western Michigan is a far cry from what it was in the days of P.J. Fleck. When he left for Minnesota, he took his ‘Row the Boat’ mantra and apparently the program’s swag with him.

The Spartans took down Western the last time these two teams played in 2017 which helped spark a turnaround season. They handled the Broncos throughout the game in East Lansing and should have the same luck this time around.

Defense will be key here as the Spartans will look to lock down on the Broncos while Brian Lewerke will aim to go off against Western for the second time in his career.

Michigan State’s defense will be stingy as ever, holding the Broncos to just 200 total yards while the offense surpasses 400.

No, the Broncos aren’t the toughest test for the Spartans in non-conference play, but this will be the comfortable win they needed heading into Week 3 against Arizona State.

Final Score: Western Michigan 13, Michigan State 35 (2-0)
