A look into where Michigan State basketball great Drew Neitzel is today. Highlights of his time with the Spartans and where he is now.

Drew Neitzel was a magician in the green and white when he played under Tom Izzo from 2004-08 and he has a plethora of awards and accomplishments from his time as a Spartan.

Neitzel is currently the all-time leader in free throw percentage at Michigan State — he was very reliable at the end of games when the Spartans were up and their opponent had to foul. If the Spartans could get the ball to Neitzel, it was almost a guarantee make from the charity stripe.

The former Mr. Basketball was able to play in a Final Four as a freshman and then never could make it back to the promised land but led the Spartans to the Sweet 16 as a senior.

After his college days, Neitzel went undrafted in 2008 and was able to play for a couple of NBA Summer League teams but could never cement a career in the league. He ended up bouncing around from international team to international team as he played overseas for roughly five seasons. During his best season he was able to average 11 points and have a 2.7 assist-to-turnover ratio. He was always clever with the ball so he did not turn the ball over much.

Following these five overseas seasons, he decided it was time to move on from basketball.

Neitzel is now a financial consultant in Grand Rapids, Mich., for Wells Fargo. He is client-based and tries to get to know his clients as best as possible. He also puts the firm first and keeps a professional but great rapport will his clients to keep them coming back. He has taken this job and ran with it because in the first three years he was named premier advisor, which is held by a select few at Wells Fargo.

Although Drew gave up his basketball career, he has not given up basketball completely. He still enjoys the game and plays in the summer along with running a summer camp to help teach kids the game of basketball. He also does color commentary for some high school and college games.
