1. Brian Lewerke is looking like his old self

Before the spring game, I didn’t think I’d find myself praising Brian Lewerke’s offseason progress, but the senior quarterback looked like an entirely refreshed passer.

In fact, there was visibly more zip on his passes, his vision was improved and so was his accuracy. He finished the day 14-for-20 with 181 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Even that lone interception wasn’t his fault as Brandon Sowards had the ball ripped out of his hands by Josiah Scott.

Putting up those numbers against one of the top-10 defenses in the nation is nothing short of impressive, especially since he’s only had three months to rehab that shoulder and get his strength, and confidence, back.

The progress Lewerke has shown this spring with his arm strength, poise and accuracy has to have fans thinking best-case scenario with this offense.

Will Michigan State do a complete 180 on the offensive side of the ball? Probably not, but if Lewerke can get back to 2017 form, or even close to it, the Spartans will be tough to stop.
