Laugh at this one all you want, but there’s belief that if Brian Lewerke can get that arm strength back and show more of his dual-threat ability in 2019 than he did in 2018 when he was hampered by a shoulder injury which caused him to be cautious, he could earn draft consideration.

Anyone who watched Lewerke in 2017 knows exactly what he can bring to the table. Heck, anyone who watched him as a redshirt freshman in four games knew that he had plenty of potential and he flashed it with 381 yards and two touchdowns with a 54 percent completion rate.

Lewerke got back to near 60 percent as a sophomore, passing for a career-high 2,793 yards and 20 touchdowns with just seven interceptions and he ran for another 559 yards and five scores. He looked like the most dynamic quarterback in Michigan State history, rivaling the production of Drew Stanton with his arm and legs.

The soon-to-be senior played in just 11 games as a redshirt junior, passing for 2,040 yards and eight touchdowns with 11 picks and a 54 percent completion rate. He looked better in the spring game this season wit more zip on his passes and has fans optimistic about his return to form.

Lewerke was once talked about as a Day 1 or Day 2 prospect, but has fallen off considerably. Could he return to those talks after a strong senior campaign?
