The 2019 NFL Draft is in the books with two former Michigan State football players getting chosen, but who could be selected in 2020?

Michigan State kept its steak alive of having a player selected in each NFL draft in the common era and dating all the way back to 1940 — only a few other schools can say this.

Justin Layne and Khari Willis were picked this year and even though two doesn’t seem like enough, LJ Scott and Felton Davis III were held back from draft consideration because of injury concerns. There could have been four selections, but the Spartans settled for two.

The 2020 NFL Draft should yield much better results for the green and white, sending more offensive players to the league as well.

Which Spartans could hear their names called next year?

I know how ridiculous it sounds putting an offensive lineman on here after the year Michigan State had in the trenches, but if anyone is going to get drafted from that offensive line, my pick would be for Cole Chewins.

The senior offensive tackle was one of the most consistent performers up front for the Spartans and it’s just unfortunate that he was never truly healthy. He missed time due to injuries and was limited in the games in which he did play.

Chewins, and the rest of the line, added some weight this offseason and he’s no longer under the 300-pound mark as he’s hit that goal. Could he be the next Spartan lineman to make it in the NFL? He’s definitely got the talent, but it all depends on how effective he is when healthy this season — or if he can just stay healthy.
