1. Perfect insertion into starting lineup

We already talked about the void that Nick Ward left in the Spartans’ post, but even if he were to return, Kerry Blackshear would be the absolute perfect addition to the starting lineup.

No, he likely wouldn’t start over Ward next season, but he fits in the offense perfectly. He plays around the perimeter as well as in the post and can assume the role of multiple guys. Ward and Kenny Goins had different skill sets — one could shoot from the perimeter and the other was strictly a post player. Blackshear would be a rare combination of the two.

Blackshear isn’t afraid to shoot over defenders from long-range which could help Xavier Tillman develop his post game, he can run the floor like Ward and he can facilitate. He’s going to back guys down in the post with his 6-10 frame, so there’s no worry about him shying away from contact.

All-in-all, this would be the ideal fit for both sides and Blackshear would join a national title contender and immediately improve the Spartans on both ends of the floor.
