Michigan State football revealed some new alternate uniforms that it will be using this fall and, well, they aren’t for everyone.

When you invest so much in a football program, you’d expect that program to pay you back. What Michigan State revealed on Saturday morning doesn’t quite feel like a solid return on investment, though.

As we mentioned on Friday, the Spartans had a neon green-accented alternate jersey concept leaked. No one knew when the football program would make it official, but it seemed as if it was a done deal. Well, Michigan State didn’t long to share the look with the world and boy, did it get quite the reaction.

Should we be that upset about these alternates? Probably not because chances are they’re a hit with players and recruits. When it all boils down, it doesn’t matter what the average fan thinks, these are more so for the players and those directly associated with the program.

So if recruits love these and they help draw more attention to Michigan State, why not give them a chance?

Sure, the “State” writing on the front looks terrible and crammed into a small space, but the helmets look pretty cool. The pants, too, are a little too Oregon-esque, but Michigan State hasn’t been afraid to step outside the box for alternates in years past.

People are talking about Michigan State on the day of its spring game, so I guess the program is doing something right. Though the green-on-green look is a bit too much. Let’s hope this is a hit with recruits so Mark Dantonio can rest easy knowing that these things exist.
