Landing Jalen Terry seemed like a long time coming for Tom Izzo and Michigan State basketball and the future of the program is very bright.

As if things couldn’t get any better for the Michigan State basketball program lately, Tom Izzo and the Spartans reeled in a top 2020 target in four-star point guard Jalen Terry on Tuesday night.

The Flint (Mich.) Beecher junior has been rising up the recruiting ranks in recent months and has become one of the premier point guards in the 2020 class.

In fact, 247Sports ranks him as the No. 31 overall prospect in the class and the fifth-best point guard, along with the No. 1 player in the state of Michigan. He’s an extremely athletic point guard with shooting, passing and driving skills and he can run the floor as smooth as anyone. That’s the exact play the Spartans will need replacing Cassius Winston.

Winston and Terry will never get to play together, which is a shame, but the Spartans will need a crafty guard who can be the floor general and push the fast-break after the All-American leaves and the four-star can be just that.

Though he’s just 5-foot-11 and listed at 155 pounds on 247Sports, he’s a freak of an athlete.

If that video doesn’t prove it to you, maybe this will:

That vertical is something out of a cartoon. He’s 5-11 yet can get his forehead up to the rim. That’s Zion Williamson-esque ups.

If the Spartans can get a nice development from Foster Loyer next season, he could be the presumed starter when Cassius leaves, but Terry would be one heck of a No. 2. Add Rocket Watts to the mix and the Spartans would have one of the most lethal, athletic backcourts in the Big Ten, if not the nation.

Michigan State is in good hands for years to come as Terry could start a domino effect with guys like Carlos Johnson or Isaiah Jackson considering the green and white.
