Michigan State Basketball: Why Spartans can become 2019 national champs
5. Cassius Winston can take over
Cassius Winston has shown the ability to take over games, and swing the momentum in less than 90 seconds. He did so against Minnesota. A step back. A steal, a floater, another steal and a three.
All that, a 7-0 run, in less than 90 seconds, took the Minnesota fans in Des Moines out of the game again and pretty much sealed the game for Michigan State.
He’s hurting. He’s obviously injured, and he’s admitted such. But this man is going to be a living legend by the end of his Michigan State career, if not by the end of his junior season, he already is one of the best Michigan State point guards in history.
If he can continue to affect games as he did against Minnesota, and limit his turnovers, he will be one of, if not the, best players in the NCAA Tournament. Guard play wins tournament games. Having arguably the best guard in the NCAA is obviously a good sign.
