3. Plenty of experience

Teams that makes deep runs in the NCAA Tournament usually have one thing in common: experience. Michigan State only has two seniors, but each of them has played in at least three NCAA Tournaments with multiple Big Ten titles and Kenny Goins has even made a Final Four in his redshirt season.

Matt McQuaid, too, has played in big games dating back to his freshman year and he’s been relied upon to make that big shot for years.

Cassius Winston has been to two NCAA Tournaments before along with Nick Ward and neither has tasted the Sweet 16, but you can bet they’re going to do anything to make sure that changes. Even though they haven’t had the deep runs, they’ve played in win-or-go-home scenarios multiple times and just won the championship in one — the Big Ten Tournament.

Michigan State has senior leaders, one of the more vocal point guards in the tourney, a big man who has found his voice in Xavier Tillman, another who has experience in Ward and plenty of young guys too mold.

The experience on this team matches up with any team in the field.
