1. Getting healthy at the right time

Another area the committee takes into consideration when choosing a team’s seed is health. Are the injuries on the team too much for a squad to overcome and prove to be a 1-2 seed?

Michigan State has proven since the start of Big Ten season that it was just as good with Josh Langford on the floor as it was without — aside from a three-game rough patch. The Spartans went 16-4 in conference play to secure a tie for the conference title and have won two more games in the Big Ten Tournament before Sunday’s final.

On top of that, Nick Ward was out for the final three weeks of the regular season and Michigan State was still able to win the regular season crown.

As John Beilein said after Michigan stomped Minnesota, Michigan State is going to be a tough out because it’s better with Ward healthy than it is without him — and he couldn’t be more truthful.

Michigan State is getting healthy at the right time with Ward back, making them an even scarier out in the NCAA Tournament and the committee has to realize that.
