1. Michigan State has been given rare second chance

You don’t always get a second chance to control your own fate but Michigan State got lucky. No one expected Minnesota to come out and upset Purdue on Tuesday, but the Gophers gave the Spartans new life.

The same could be said for Michigan, but the Spartans feel as if they really fumbled away an opportunity to win the Big Ten title, at least shared, by losing at home to Indiana and then again in Bloomington last week. That type of disappointment is hard to overcome, but the Spartans are going to make sure they control their own fate with a victory.

Heck, if Northwestern upsets Purdue earlier on Saturday afternoon, we could see an even more intense matchup with Michigan State playing its most motivated game of the year.

OK, I lied, this will be the Spartans’ most motivated performance of the season because, well, everything is on the line in East Lansing. Bragging rights, a Big Ten title and seeding in both the Big Ten and NCAA tournaments.
