4. Spartans finish with 4-1 assist-to-turnover ratio

On the season, Michigan State is averaging 19 assists and just over 13 rebounds which is around a 1.5 assist-to-turnover ratio. No, that’s not bad, but considering the Spartans are tops in the conference in assists, that ratio should be much higher. The turnovers are what kill this team.

Against the Buckeyes, we will see the Spartans put together one of their cleanest games of the season, turning the ball over just seven times with 28 assists for a 4-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio.

That seems almost impossible given that the Spartans had a season-high 24 turnovers just a few games ago, but they showed that they can protect the ball, after all, following that up with just nine turnovers and 27 assists against Minnesota for a ratio of 3.0.

Can the Spartans one-up that performance in their next home contest against the Buckeyes? I’m going with yes as they will feed off the crowd’s energy and we will see Cassius Winston break the 10-assist mark with just two turnovers of his own.

A winning recipe of basketball starts with turnover-free play, and that’s what we’ll see from the green and white.
