1. We are seeing the real Michigan State again

Remember what everyone was saying just last week after losing to Illinois on the road? The Spartans are done. This season is over, let’s just focus on next year. Why are we even playing out the year, this team has no chance to make a run and the Big Ten title is just a pipe dream.

Those sentiments were muttered across the fan base as everyone was in full-blown panic mode after a three-game skid, capped off with a loss to 7-15 Illinois in Champaign, and rightfully so.

Michigan State didn’t look like the same team and everyone’s confidence seemed shattered after the official announcement of Josh Langford’s season-ending injury.

And then the team got together and aired their grievances. They had a mini town hall, of sorts, organized by Tom Izzo. Everyone let out their emotions and the team responded by getting back to the basics against Minnesota over the weekend, beating the Gophers 79-55.

As if that wasn’t enough, Michigan State went to Madison to beat No. 20 Wisconsin on its home court, 67-59. Those are two solid wins against likely tournament teams which showed that the losses to Illinois and Indiana were extreme outliers and product of a lack of serious effort.
