There’s talk that Michigan State is trying to land a grad transfer defensive end and it’s mainly because depth on the defensive line can’t hurt. The Spartans’ strength last year was up front on the defensive line as well as linebackers, so it’s not like they have no one to play at the end spots, but Michael Fletcher is just that good.

Jacub Panasiuk and Kenny Willekes are the clear starters heading into the season, but the latter will be coming off major surgery and the former hasn’t proven himself as much as a starter. Both will be solid pieces to the defensive puzzle, but the Spartans could use some depth.

That’s where Michael Fletcher comes in. The four-star defensive end from Flint could be an instant impact piece because he already has the size at 6-5, 240 pounds to compete. He’s not an early enrollee, but he has all the potential to be a star at the end spot for the green and white.

Fletcher is quick off the snap and his moves are slowly improving. He has the strength to overpower opposing linemen and speed to blow right by them. He’s an athletic specimen for his size. He’s also ranked the No. 368 player and 28th-best strong-side defensive end in the class.
