3. Spartans have plenty of depth

Depth is not an issue for this team, and that’s been evident over the past eight games without Josh Langford. The Spartans still know how to score at a high rate and they’re playing their best defense of the season, holding five straight teams under 70 points before losing to Purdue last weekend.

When you look at the roster, you see depth at just about every position besides point guard as Cassius Winston has been playing 35-plus minutes per game. Sure, having a healthy Langford would be nice because it could give Winston a rest and move Matt McQuaid to the point, but having Aaron Henry step up could do just that.

The depth with Henry stepping up and Gabe Brown seeing healthy minutes could still give Winston short rests in between his long periods on the court and Foster Loyer could even see his minutes increase — which could only be a good thing for his future.

If you’re worried about the depth on this team after Langford’s injury, you shouldn’t be. The Spartans have plenty of it and have put up a 7-1 record without Langford thus far.
