Offense: B-

Also since that win at Ohio State, Michigan State’s offense has seen its point total drop gradually. The Spartans scored 86 against the Buckeyes but haven’t reached 80 since.

Scoring under 70 points for the first time since winning at Florida in early-December, the Spartan offense looked pedestrian in stretches, but had breakouts with easy bucket after easy bucket. It was a game of runs and unfortunately, the last 4:30 of the game left a sour taste in everyone’s mouths.

No, Maryland didn’t make a comeback, but the Spartans went from having a 67-50 lead with a team looking poised to reach 80 to scoring just two more points in the final 4:30 to win 69-55. That type of offense isn’t going to be acceptable on the road against good teams.

Michigan State shot 46 percent from the floor but was just 6-of-26 from the 3-point line after starting 4-for-8 — that’s right, Michigan State made just 2-of-18 threes to end the game.

A reason the grade remained a B- instead of a C was the slash in number of turnovers to nine and the 21 assists on 28 made field goals.

Still, not this offense’s best game, by any means.
