Offense: A

Not many teams in college basketball shoot as high of a percentage as Michigan State and it continued that torrid streak on the offensive end, making 54 percent of its shots. That high conversion rate was due, in large part, to a monster second half which saw the Spartans make about 90 percent of their shots early on.

Turnovers continued to be a problem, of sorts, as the Spartans totaled 12 to the Buckeyes’ five, but no one had more than two. There wasn’t a glaring weakness on this end of the court even on a day when the 3-pointers weren’t falling — Michigan State made just 6-of-18.

Nick Ward had himself quite a day in the post, shooting 5-of-7 and making 11-of-14 from the free throw line. His ability to draw fouls while being under control is impressive and it makes the Spartans that much harder to guard in the post.

Cassius Winston also starred, leading the team with 25 points and five assists with only two turnovers. He was red-hot in the final 20 minutes, scoring 18 points and answering Tom Izzo’s call.

Matt McQuaid scored in double figures as well, Kyle Ahrens made some big shots, Aaron Henry hit a big three and Xavier Tillman added eight points on 3-of-5 shooting.

Scoring 86 points on the road against a defense that allows less than 65 per game is more than impressive.
