3. Healthier Brian Lewerke under center

Though he may not be completely healthy heading into the Redbox Bowl, Brian Lewerke has been named starter for the game, per Mark Dantonio, and the head coach even stated that the junior gunslinger looks better and has been getting reps with the first-team in bowl practice.

We might not see Lewerke at ‘100 percent’ but he’ll be closer than he was through the latter part of the season. He’s has plenty of time to rest and get that shoulder back to where it needs to be and he could be rekindling those connections with his receivers and tight ends.

Michigan State’s best chance to win this one will be with Lewerke under center and closer to healthy than he’s been in months, so this is the perfect scenario for the Spartans.

If we can see the quarterback that led the Spartans to 10 wins a season ago and 38 points in the season opener, they’ll be in good shape, especially since Oregon’s secondary isn’t exactly lockdown material.

Lewerke should be healthier, and that’s all Spartan fans want to hear.
