3. A healthy Brian Lewerke
Who doesn’t miss healthy Brian Lewerke? The junior quarterback had a nightmare season in 2018 thanks to a shoulder injury as well as a loss of confidence which forced him to ride the pine as Rocky Lombardi, too, struggled to gain any footing under center.
Lewerke had a heck of a 2017 campaign in his first full year as starter, passing for nearly 3,000 yards and over 20 touchdowns with just seven picks. He looked like the next star quarterback for the green and white, following the footsteps of Kirk Cousins and Connor Cook, but he was never the same after the Arizona State game in Week 2.
Every fan wanted to see Lewerke return to 2017 form, but his health was a concern and his confidence was waning. He’ll need a full offseason to truly work back to his normal self.
The talent is there, he just needs to realize it, work on getting healthy and focus on improving his accuracy. If all three of those happen, Lewerke’s senior season could be special.
