Luke Fulton may go down in Michigan State football history as the steal of this class. The Spartans got a gem in this product from Youngstown, Ohio.

Luke Fulton is the classic Michigan State linebacker that Spartan fans have come to expect. Head coach Mark Dantonio has had some great ones in Greg Jones, Max Bullough, Taiwan Jones and currently Joe Bachie.

Fulton stands 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds and he was a bit of an under-the-radar type of recruit with his only other Big Ten offer being Northwestern.

However, when you watch the film on Fulton it is easy to fall in love with his style of play. He is not just quick to the pigskins but rather flies to it. He makes quick decisions and has a high football IQ. He even had the speed and hands to play wide receiver. There is one point on his highlight film where he timed the snap count perfectly and crushes the ball-carrier in the backfield to save a touchdown near the goal line.

Fulton just has a nose for the football and can play any of the linebacker positions. He lines up on the edge and jets past tackles for sacks. He can drop back into coverage and reads where the quarterback’s eyes and he steps into lanes for interceptions. Also, he has the strength and power to stand up running backs.

Dantonio got another gem at linebacker and it is possible that with Fulton’s ability he could see the field in 2019. He will need to add more weight, but that should not be a problem.
