When he announced the signing of Michael Fletcher on Twitter, Mark Dantonio gave the three-star defensive end some major praise. He said that Fletcher reminds him a little of William Gholston who was one of the most successful ends under the head coach and one of a select few five-stars he’s ever reeled in.

The defensive end spots will be solidified to start the season, assuming Kenny Willekes stays for his senior year, but that doesn’t mean depth won’t be necessary. Jacub Panasiuk looks to start opposite Willekes again and Jack Camper and Drew Beesley will provide depth along with DeAri Todd and Parks Gissinger, among other young, unproven players, but Fletcher has the Big Ten-ready body — and overall game.

Fletcher is strong at the point of attack, has some solid moves in his arsenal and is a relentless rusher from the edge. He stands 6-foot-5 and weighs in at 240 pounds and has a game that translates well to college football.

Dantonio is high on this kid for a reason and he’s the kind of player who can compete for extended snaps from day one.

Expect the No. 342 recruit and 25th-best strong-side defensive end, per 247Sports, to see the field early and often in 2019.
