Michigan State football has taken its time in its search efforts to find a quarterback for the 2019 class. Could another Lombardi be in the mix?

Spartan fans are well aware of Rocky Lombardi, the redshirt freshman quarterback, who helped them grind out a victory over a hot Purdue team. He has an up-and-coming brother who also plays quarterback and is rated No. 2 in the state of Iowa in wrestling — his name is Beau.

While he’s just a two-star prospect, he does have a strong arm like his older brother and he moves well in the pocket. He stands 6-foot-3 and weighs in at 220 pounds, similar to Rocky.

The Spartans have had a struggle attempting to find a quarterback for the 2019 class. They had a good one in Dwan Mathis, however, he decommitted and is on his way to Ohio State.

The Spartans have struck out with other quarterbacks they have gone after. Most recently, they offered Western Michigan pledge Payton Thorne and he agreed to a visit but he has been committed to Western Michigan since the summer.

One suggestion for Michigan State football to consider is a familiar last name: Lombardi.

Beau works well even under pressure. He keeps his eyes downfield and will go to a second or third receiver. He is a someone Michigan State needs to consider.

What impressed me the most was his ability to throw the deep ball accurately under major pressure. The pigskin had enough air underneath for the wide receiver and was a beautiful pass.
