2. Brian Lewerke could end the year on a high note

Who else misses the 2017 version of Brian Lewerke? You’re not alone in that regard. Michigan State coaches and players miss him, too, which is why having a month off between the final game and the bowl will be great for the junior gunslinger.

It seemed like he was injured for most of the regular season, dating back to the second half of the Arizona State game. He looked solid in the opener against Utah State but something just wasn’t right after his interception in the end zone against the Sun Devils in Week  2.

Was it an injury? Possibly, but no one knows for sure when it occurred. Was it a confidence issues? Most likely a combination of the two.

For whatever reason, Lewerke just hasn’t been himself all year and having that extra month off will do him some good in terms of getting work in and gaining some confidence before facing an Oregon defense that is known to give up some points and yardage through the air.

Getting Lewerke back for one last opportunity to finish 2018 on a high note will be an exciting storyline to follow.
