Michigan State’s 25 wishes list continues today and will run for the next two and a half weeks. What is the No. 16 wish for all Spartan fans?

Here is wish No. 16 on our Michigan State fan wish list as we count down to wish No. 1.

Wish No. 16

During the early signing period for college football which lasts from Dec. 19-21, all 18 Michigan State football commits will officially sign.

Traditionally, all football recruits had to wait until official signing day that occurs for the most part on the first Wednesday of February every year. The official National Signing Day, which is on Feb. 6, 2019, is when if you are a college football recruit and did not sign during the early signing period, you would more than likely sign on that day. The wish or goal as many would say is to have all 18 currently committed recruits sign during that three day period in December. It is important moving forward in recruiting and here is why.

It has been no secret that this season has not gone as planned. However, the coaching staff has been together for a while and no big and or major shifts have happened in recruiting philosophy within this staff. The worry is with coaching changes nationally and other coaches trying to flip recruits that Michigan State in theory could either have a couple of recruits wait to sign in February and possibly open up their recruitment or worse, they decide to commit and sign with another school in February.

Many believe that all 18 current Michigan State football recruits will officially sign in December but there are no guarantees whatsoever that all will sign then.

If Michigan State is able to have all 18 commits sign early, the coaching staff can begin to work on recruiting other athletes for their 2019 class.

The announcement of LJ Scott declaring for the NFL after the end of the season and the likelihood of Justin Layne leaving early, have left some scholarships open. There may be more scholarships available if more players declare for the NFL draft or if anyone decides to transfer at the end of the season. The Spartans are also looking at a quarterback to sign in this upcoming class, so recruiting will continue strong after Dec. 21.

I put the probability of Wish No. 16 on our wish list of coming true at 75 percent. It is the holiday season and if you wish it, it may come true and this wish has a good chance of coming true.
