2. The war drill is coming

It’s coming. Michigan State is approaching war drill status and that’s something Tom Izzo likes to pull out of the old bag when his team struggles on the glass.

We saw him mention borrowing football pads from Mark Dantonio earlier in the year when his team was beat up on the glass and couldn’t play much defense and it looks like we may see a return of the war drill thanks to a horrendous rebounding performance at Florida.

The Gators were able to pull down 16 offensive rebounds to Michigan State’s nine. The Spartans won the rebounding battle 36-33, but that didn’t exactly make anyone feel good.

It seemed as if every long rebound came back out to the Gators and that led to the wind being taken out of the Spartans’ sails. Michigan State needs to keep opponents off the offensive boards and a war drill type of practice week could solve that.

By next Sunday, Michigan State will have a different rebounding mindset and poor Green Bay will feel the Spartans’ wrath.
