1. Vernon Carey Jr. and his father trust Tom Izzo

Having family members’ support when it comes to picking a college is huge for recruits. In this care, Vernon Carey Jr.’s father, a former Miami Dolphins player, has given the thumbs up for Tom Izzo and Co.

The elder Carey gave glowing reviews of the head coach after the last official on Nov. 9, stating that he would be just fine with Izzo coaching his son and that he respects the Hall of Fame head coach. He went one step further, stating that he’s as big on the Spartans as they are on his son.

The relationship Izzo has developed with Carey Jr. is exceptional, considering he’s one of the most sought-after recruits in the country. But making the parents of the highly-touted recruit buy in is even more important.

Izzo isn’t going to be the kind of guy to sugarcoat anything, and Carey Jr. knows that — and so does Carey Sr. He’s going to be straight up and if they already like that style of recruiting, that’s a positive for MSU’s chances.
