3. Cassius Winston averages 10-plus assists per game

So far Cassius Winston’s off to a good start in December with a 12-assist effort in a blowout win over Iowa, and that’ll carry over as he’ll continue to make smart passes and finish off non-conference play red-hot with the ball in his hands.

It goes without saying that he’ll average over 10 points per game, but he’s going to put up at least 10 assists per game while averaging around 2.0 turnovers, or less. It’ll be the best month of his career and it could carry over into conference play again as he will have plenty of confidence.

Not many players in the Big Ten are playing as well as Winston right now and he may be the top performer at point guard in the country, but he still has plenty to prove against some conference contenders, but he’ll bully Green Bay, Oakland and Northern Illinois.

The unfortunate thing here is, though, that Foster Loyer is still far from developed into a solid backup point guard in the Big Ten and that could force Tom Izzo to use Winston more than he wants.

Izzo can’t complain about his point guard averaging a double-double in the month before conference play kicks back up.
