4. Spartans finish December with 5-0 record, five double-digit wins

Yes, one game has already passed, but the Spartans were heavy favorites against Iowa at home anyway, but they will finish the month with a 5-0 overall record, including additional wins over Florida and Oakland.

The toughest remaining game is that road contest against the Gators on Saturday and a win there would like create a domino effect, leading to three more easy victories before Big Ten play resumes in January.

After Florida, Michigan State comes back home for three contests against lesser opponents in Green Bay, Oakland and Northern Illinois. Those should all be relatively easy victories, by double-digits, including the road game in Gainesville. Yes, a road win against a power conference team that is traditionally a contender by more than 10 points — not too shabby for the old NCAA Tournament resume.

With these five wins in December, Michigan State will improve to 11-2 overall and it will already have a head start in conference play with a 2-0 mark heading into a home game on Jan. 2 against Northwestern.
