Michigan State’s 25 wishes list continues today and will run over the next three-plus weeks. What is the No. 22 wish for all Spartan fans?

Here is wish No. 22 on our Michigan State fan wish list as we count down to wish No. 1.

Wish No. 23

Vernon Carey Jr. commits to the Michigan State’s basketball team on Dec. 6.

The early signing period resulted in only one student athlete signing with Tom Izzo’s program from the 2019 class. Malik Hall is the 49th ranked recruit in the 2019 class, according to Rivals. Mark “Rocket” Watts, a top four-star recruit revealed on Instagram his verbal commitment early in the fall.

However, he did not sign during the early signing period. He has not wavered on his commitment to the green and white but he not signing with Michigan State yet has some Spartan fans concerned that he may not end up signing with Izzo. So what does all of this have to do with Vernon Carey Jr.?

Carey Jr., according to Rivals.com, is the No. 1 recruit in the nation for the 2019 recruiting class. Carey will announce his college choice Thursday, he said on a Twitter on Saturday. On Sunday, he wrote that he is down to three schools: Duke, North Carolina, and Michigan State. The so-called “recruiting experts” say that it is between Michigan State and Duke. Some even predicting that he will choose to verbally commit to the Spartans. He’s announcing that he is choosing Michigan State would be a wish come true for many Michigan State basketball fans who follow basketball recruiting.

The impact of Carey Jr. picking the Spartans would be equivalent to when Magic Johnson picked Michigan State in terms of the impact for the future of the basketball program.

I believe that college fans in general put too much stock in recruiting internet rankings. However, Carey is an outstanding player who is college ready now, similar to Miles Bridges but projected to have more of an instant impact once he steps on to the college campus.

This wish coming true I would put at 70 percent but many would not be surprised if he didn’t pick Michigan State but it is indeed the holiday season.
