Offense: C-

The offensive end of the court was rough for the Spartans as they couldn’t seem to do anything productive in the half-court for the first 10-plus minutes of the game. Things eventually improved, but they looked rough early on and free throws were the main source of offense early.

Is a C- grade too harsh? Not really, seeing as Josh Langford had arguably the worst game of his career, Cassius Winston couldn’t seem to hang onto the ball, the rock didn’t go to Nick Ward in the post enough and the shots just weren’t falling for most of the night.

In fact, Michigan State finished with just 14 assists and 17 turnovers — not quite the ratio you want to see from your offense.

Moreover, the Spartans shot 47 percent from the field and 40 percent from behind the 3-point line which essentially was all in the second half. The first-half shooting was horrid, leading to that early double-digit deficit.

The offense was rough on Tuesday night and it had plenty to do with getting behind early and struggling to play catch-up.
