1. Matt McQuaid’s big threes seal win for Spartans

Inconsistency has clouded Matt McQuaid’s senior season with Michigan State. The senior has earned his teammates’ respect with the captain role and he’s one of those glue guys who plays lockdown defense — Tom Izzo even calls him the team’s best defender, by a long shot — and can make a big three every now and then.

With the game pretty much dead-locked all evening, the senior guard is going to need to step up and shrug off the inconsistency he’s been playing with.

The game will be knotted up at 70-70 with under three minutes left and McQuaid will get his opportunity, after struggling all night long, and he won’t disappoint. The senior guard will hit a monstrous three to give the Spartans a 73-70 lead and he will then hit another with under a minute left to make it 78-73 which will effectively end any comeback hope for the Cardinals.

Michigan State will go on to win the game 80-73 thanks to those two big threes from McQuaid and he’ll finish the game with eight points.
