2. Cassius Winston remains red-hot

Cassius Winston is playing at an extremely high level this season and that will look to continue against Texas on Friday evening.

The junior point guard looks like an early All-American candidate at the point guard position and a big reason for that is his continued effective shooting as well as improved ball security. He’s averaging 17.6 points and 7.0 assists per game while turning the ball over, on average, just 2.0 times.

No one expected Winston to keep up his hot shooting from last year, making about 50 percent of both of his field goals and 3-pointers, but he’s gotten off to a strong start, hitting 47 percent from the floor and 44 percent from behind the arc. Texas won’t be able to slow him, either.

Winston will finish with 21 points and eight assists to go along with just one turnover.

How good has he been with the ball in his hands lately? The Spartan offense has been scorching-hot and he’s had 24 assists to just five turnovers in the past four games.
