4. Michigan State is unbeaten in Big Ten road games

Believe it or not, Michigan State has been impressive on the road this season outside of a Week 2 loss to Arizona State which, again, the Spartans had a chance to win but shot themselves in the foot.

Michigan State has been in every game they’ve played this season well into the second half, but some late-third quarter and fourth-quarter meltdowns have been the difference between a 9-1 record and 6-4.

Michigan State had Arizona State on the ropes, but let the Sun Devils hang around and snatch a victory from the Spartans’ hands. Northwestern, too, lost all momentum in the beginning of the second half as the Spartans reclaimed a 19-14 lead before the Wildcats scored twice and the offense couldn’t respond. The Spartans were tied 7-7 with Michigan in the third quarter before the Wolverines scored a touchdown and it seemed like a seven-point lead was insurmountable — it was. Lastly, Michigan State trailed Ohio State by just one, 7-6, in the third, but two costly turnovers deep in its own territory was the difference.

The Spartans have been in every game with a chance to win, but they’ve been much better on the road, beating Indiana handily, upsetting Penn State and handing Maryland a blowout defeat. This will be much of the same.

Mark Dantonio makes sure his teams block out the noise on the road and in this hostile environment, the green and white will find a way to silence the sellout crowd, winning four straight away from East Lansing.
