3. Defense holds Nebraska under 300 total yards

Don’t get me wrong, I think Adrian Martinez is one of the conference’s rising stars at quarterback and he could very well be in the discussion for the Big Ten’s best next season.

Unfortunately for him, he’ll be running into the brick wall that is the Michigan State defense who has been much better both through the air and on the ground over the past month. The defense has been dubbed elite by some, but they need to prove it with another sparkling performance against one of the conference’s best dual-threats.

The Spartans will hold him under 200 yards passing and they won’t allow him to break free for any long runs. Don’t forget about Devine Ozigbo who has had a huge season running the ball for the Huskers, but he will fall short of 70 yards and Nebraska’s offense will fold.

Michigan State’s defense will be the main reason it has a chance to win this one as the offense is still looking for its identity. The Cornhuskers won’t be able to move the ball on this Spartan defense — at least not consistently.

Under 300 total yards on the day for Nebraska at home.
